The “New West” is becoming an old joke in small Western ranching and farming communities which are dealing with a crush of urban “environmentalist” transplants who love the scenery but are ignorant about the people, history and culture of these pretty little towns. Locals all too often are pressured by such newcomers to minimize the impact of livestock on the countryside or get rid of them entirely. Little do the urban transplants know that it is the presence of well-managed livestock and thriving farms and ranches that makes these pretty little Western towns so vibrant and appealing. ~Ed
