Pictorial History Celebrates America’s Outback
The drama of life in the American West is featured in the 2019 edition of the Real Buckaroo Calendar produced by RANGE magazine. RANGE is an award-winning national, issues-oriented publication devoted to people who live and work on the land, and is the recipient of five consecutive Freedom of the Press awards.
The 2019 calendar is a color-filled pictorial history that showcases producers who help feed more than 300 million Americans.
“The Real Buckaroo Calendar is a celebration of the people, their lives and critters, and a workday that can take place in some very isolated country,” says C.J. Hadley, RANGE publisher. “Their lives are not easy, but our award-winning photographers have captured candid images that can be inspiring, humorous and beautifully dramatic. These moments reflect the dedication and work ethic of those who feed and clothe us.”
Of the calendar’s 14 photos, Nevada photographer Janet Johnson’s image was selected for the edition’s cover. The photo was taken during branding at Johnson Livestock near Denio, Nev. Calendar photos were taken also in Montana, California, Arizona, Texas, Wyoming, and Oregon.
In addition to the 12 monthly images, RANGE’s calendar features a bonus poster. The 2019 pullout photo was taken by Debbie Bell of Clements, Calif. The image captured a cattle gather on the Lost Coast of Northern California, with the Pacific Ocean in the background.
Each wall calendar is shrink-wrapped and has a large-grid format with plenty of room for notations. Retail price is $12.95, discounted to $10 each, or 3 for $25, which includes shipping and handling in the U.S.A. Major credit cards accepted. Nevada residents must add 7 percent sales tax.
