American Stewards hosts conference to oppose “30 x 30” landgrab

American Stewards of Liberty: Stop 30 x 30 Summit

On April 22, 2022, which is referred to by many as “Earth Day,” American Stewards for Liberty, led by Executive Director is Margaret Byfield, will hosting a symposium titled “Stop 30 x 30 Summit.” The conference is being held to bring valuable information to policy makers, journalists and the general public about how to counter Biden’s dangerous “30 x 30” plan, a radical initiative would place one-third of United States’ surface land and resources under federal control within the next 8 years. The ASL website explains “30 x 30”:

The 30 x 30 program is a plan advanced by radical environmental activists to permanently protect 30% of America’s land and oceans by 2030. The program is being advanced by the Biden Administration through Executive Order 14008, “Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad” (86 Fed. Reg. 7,619), signed January 27, 2021.

Proponents argue that climate impacts are human-caused, and permanently preserving 30% of America’s land and oceans is necessary to reverse climate change. This action must be taken immediately, they claim, to avoid impacts on the ecosystem and wildlife. However, the science and data do not justify these extreme policy measures.

30 x 30 is an unconstitutional policy shift, moving us from a nation founded on private property principles to one controlled by the administrative state.

Margaret Byfield is the daughter of Nevada rancher Wayne Hage, who has been the subject of numerous articles in RANGE magazine. Her family’s decades of struggles with the federal government provided her a unique perspective on ranching in the West, and the unceasing conflicts between those who use and improve the range, and those who rule it from Washington, D.C.  American Stewards of Liberty (ASL) was incorporated in Texas as a national 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2009. Margaret currently lives in Georgetown, Texas. Her biography is compelling:

Margaret was raised on a large cow calf operation in central Nevada purchased by her parents, Wayne and Jean Hage in 1978. Her family experienced unprecedented regulatory pressures that eventually led to Hage v. United States, the first federal lands grazing case filed in the United States Court of Federal Claims. The case was in litigation for 27 years, during which time Margaret launched the property rights organization Stewards of the Range. Stewards merged with the American Land Foundation in 2009 forming American Stewards of Liberty (ASL). Margaret has helped train, guide and advise elected leaders for the purpose of coordinating land use planning and management activities with federal and state agencies.  She has guided and participated in numerous government-to-government coordination meetings dealing with a variety of issues including federal resource management plans, endangered species, transportation corridors, power lines, high speed rail and many other concerns. Additionally, she has helped local governments develop natural resource plans and specific policies for the purpose of conveying to federal and state agencies the local needs and priorities to be coordinated. 

The Summit will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska, and well-known influencers in agriculture and policy will present. They include Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts, North Dakota U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer, U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert, Craig Rucker, President of CFACT, Gabriella Hoffman, CFACT Media and host of “District of Conservation,” Ken Ivory, Utah State Representative, with the keynote to be given by former Interior Secretary David Bernhardt.
